Connecting and disconnecting machinings

Machinings will connect automatically with Custom Parts in case the insertion point hits the surface of a Custom Part.

Machinings, which are connected correctly are displayed in black. Their classes start with "XG>Custom Part Routing". This is followed by the name of the machining. Unconnected edits are shown in red and added to the "XG>Custom Part Routing>Disconnected" class.

Connected machinings may be

  • Moved
  • Mirrored
  • Copied&Pasted, Duplicated
  • Rotated
  • Grouped

without loosing the connection with the Custom Part.

Machinings as Symbols

If you frequently need certain machinings, it is useful to create a symbol. To do this, select the machinings and choose Modify > Create Symbol. Make sure that the option "Convert to Group" is turned on. The machinings in the symbol will be connected with the Custom Part automatically, when they start at z=0 and are directed downwards in front view.

Stepped Machinings

When creating stepped machinings, the insertion point of all machinings need to remain on the surface of the Custom Part. At the moment, you cannot specify the order the machinings are processed:

Grid points not accessible

If grid points are not accessible when inserting CNC machinings, it can help

  • To group the objects to be worked on, to enter the group and to hide all surrounding objects.
  • If it is a cabinet, hide the class of the interfering part.

Flip Custom Part or machining

If you hold the "Shift" key while inserting a Custom Part or machining or while converting an object using the "interiorcad > Convert to" functions, it will be created flipped.

Assign Custom Parts and their machining by groups

In very rare cases where two Custom Parts with same size at the same position ocurr, machining may change the associated Custom Part when regenerating the Custom Part. To override this, the machining can be grouped with the Custom Part. Interiorcad then automatically defaults to the Custom Part grouping in further attempts to combine Custom Part and machining.
